Episode 25."Kaiju Takeover Pt. 2" with J. Carlos Menjivar

On this, the second part of our Kaiju Takeover, I am joined by J Carlos Menjivar of the terrific Dial F For Film Podcast. We prepare for Godzilla Vs. Kong with a pair of movies that attempted to reboot the iconic titans for a new generation. 

Up first is King Kong from 1976, starring Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges. After that we discuss Return of Godzilla from 1984, and we dip our toes into discussing the Americanized version of that film, Godzilla 1985.

It's a kaiju takeover here at the Incredible Two-Headed Podcast, as we psych ourselves up for the Godzilla Vs. Kong premiere. 

For week one of this three week event, Rik Tod Johnson returns to discuss some groovy kaiju silliness in The X From Outer Space and War of the Gargantuas.

Deleted Scenes #2: "Grindhouse" with Sir Hatchporch

On this ultra-brief little bonus snippet, Sir Hatchporch bond over our shared childhood fascination with horror movies, despite being a bit too scared to really enjoy them. Then we talk about the art of horror hosting, and a couple of people who are keeping the tradition alive and well.

Just a little tidbit to tide you over until our next episode.

Episode 23: "Grindhouse" with Sir Hatchporch

Take a walk on the wild side as we venture down some poorly lit cinematic alleyways. Sir Hatchporch joins me to discuss a pair of disreputable action films, and all things grindhouse.

The main films discussed are 1978's Mr. No Legs (AKA Gun Fighter) and 1977's Death Promise (AKA Slumfighter). Along the way we take plenty of digressions and discuss our top five "grindhouse" films.

Deleted Scenes #1: "Shamlet" with Cory Pilawski

Welcome to our first ever bonus episode!

Believe it or not, I do edit these shows, and sometimes when the episode is going what I think is too long, I have to cut some stuff out. Some of that stuff I still like, and I do regret losing it from the conversation. So when that happens, I'm going to be putting out these little bonus episodes. 

I hope you enjoy this little lost snippets, where Cory and I talk about closure in longform entertainment, our varying levels of cowardice when it comes to horror, and I go off on another Twin Peaks tangent.

Episode 22. "Shamlet" with Cory Pilawski

There's something rotten in Denmark, as returning guest Cory Pilawski and I sit down to discuss a couple of irreverent takes on Shakespeare's melancholy Dane.

We discuss all things Shakespeare on this week's episode, first with a discussion about the 1983 comedy film Strange Brew, and then a conversation around the 2008 satire Hamlet 2. After that, we give a bunch of further viewing recommendations if you're looking for more creative takes on the Bard's works.

Episode 21. "Eastbound & Down Under" with Zeke Perez

Returning guest Zeke Perez shows up to discuss a couple of martial arts movies from the lands of Down Under. First up is the 2002 New Zealand comedy Tongan Ninja. After a brief break we come back to discuss the 1975 Australia/China coproduction The Man From Hong Kong.

This is just the first in what will hopefully be a string of martial arts themed episodes this year, so join us on the start of our world tour!

Episode 20. "Movie Set Madness" with Rik Tod Johnson

It's another plus-sized episode this week, as Rik Tod Johnson joins us for the big 2-0. It took twenty episodes to get Rik on the show, but I think you'll agree it was worth the wait.

Rik brings his vast movie knowledge to the table as we discuss a pair of films about making films. Or more specifically, films about chaotic movie sets.

Up first we discuss the almost-lost 1941 Universal picture Hellzapoppin', and we follow that up with a discussion of Richard Rush's elusive film The Stunt Man.

Episode 19. "The Kids Aren't Alright" with Johnny D.

Johnny Duarte of Creepy Kingdom returns for another round serving as my temporary host body. This week the note we've been handed reads "The Kids Aren't Alright" and it's up to us to interpret that. Johnny chose notorious Japanese action flick Battle Royale, while Aaron picked the recent YA rom-com Spontaneous. Whether doing horrible things or having horrible things done to them, kids don't really have an easy time of it this week.
